I know I'm not the only one with a broken heart following Marshall's loss to Southern Miss at the Henderson Center last night. All MU needed to do was win and it had the No. 4 seed at CUSA's, but now with the loss they fell all the way to No. 8 and have a third game against Tulane coming up. Donnie Jones was ejected from last week's game against the Green Wave and it lit a fire under the team, eventually coming back from down as many as 15 points to win. Let's all hope he's got some magic up his sleeve or it could be a short trip to Memphis.
Speaking of Memphis....
Photo editor Patrick Stanley and I will be going to CUSA's this week. I'll try to post some photos on here.

Thoughts on Marshall-SMU

What a great win. Both coaches described the game as a "great college basketball game", and I couldn't agree more.
I was shocked that the Herd came back from down 10 in the first half and was even more shocked with the finish. On the road, that shot hasn't gone in for the Herd in what seems like years. Mark Dorris did what senior leaders are supposed to do. With the game on the line he made the shot on the road to win the game.
Tirrell Baines had a fantastic game. His 25 points was a career-high and he made the steal that gave the Herd to ball and set up Dorris' game winning shot.
The Herd has three games at the Henderson Center coming up, and they could make up the biggest home stand Marshall has had in many years. All of the games are winnable and MU has played very well at home this season (outside of the Lipscomb incident and the Memphis game). These games will go a long way in deciding the C-USA tourney fates of the leagues middle-of-the-pack squads. Marshall can do itself a favor by avoiding an early round matchup with Memphis or Houston.
